Potential Boise/Arkansas game next season?

Word on the street is that Arkansas only has 11 confirmed regular season games scheduled for next season. Boise is playing AT Hawaii, and any team that plays AT Hawaii can opt for a 13th regular season game (Which is how they went 14-0 a few seasons back without a conference championship game). Word on the street also says that Jerry Jones would love to host the match up in his big backyard.

I’m not sure about the reality of it, but I would like to see it come into reality. Though I’m not going to lie, it will probably be a rough game for the rebuilding Broncos to play an Arkansas team poised to win the SEC West.

Hmmm…

Arkansas is no. 6 in the country. They lost to Alabama at their place but have been strong the remainder of the season.

But i’m still not sure how Oklahoma is ranked above them… They lost at home to an unranked Texas Tech… (Arkansas lost at Alabama to a team that has remained in the top…

Apparently the BCS likes to think that Ok’s fluke loss is less important than Arkansas losing to a quality opponent. If Arkansas beats LSU, Bama will go to the SEC championship game. I’m sorry, but Arkansas is getting screwed this year, one way or another. It reminds me of Michigan State last year. According to SEC rules, if there is a three-way tie, it takes the highest ranked team, which will be Bama if Arkansas wins over LSU. Even if Arkansas does beat LSU, I don’t even know if Arkansas will go to a BCS game. Only 2 teams per conference are allowed. LSU might still go instead of them. It’s a mixed up system.

Houston has a legit shot at a BCS game

If they win out, they’ll pass Boise for that 10 spot. They might even get farther than that depending on how Arkansas, Clemson, and Virginia Tech finish out. It’ll be well-deserved if they make it in. Looks like they’ll play either Oklahoma or Ok State in the Fiesta Bowl.

My Top 10

Sorry, guys, haven’t done this in a while. But here goes.

  1. LSU
  2. Oklahoma State
  3. Stanford
  4. Boise State
  5. Alabama
  6. Oregon
  7. Oklahoma
  8. Arkansas
  9. Houston
  10. Clemson

South Carolina?

I still say they’re overrated this year. They haven’t played a AP ranked team all season. Auburn is as close to a ranked team that they’ve played (AU is ranked now) and they lost. I won’t be surprised if/when Arkansas beats them down.

The SEC: 2011

My original selection was LSU, but I don’t know if I can follow through with that. Let me just explain exactly how BAD the SEC looks this year. Even in the stronger west, there’s the inconsistent Arkansas, the overrated Auburn and Mississippi State, and Ole Miss, which I don’t even know what say about. But as bad as they look, the East is in shambles. Georgia might do okay, but lets not forget how they looked against UCF last year. They don’t even have AJ Green so look out. South Carolina might be okay, and maybe Florida, but who knows. This will be the year without an SEC champion.

Moving on from the rant… Alabama is ranked #2, which I think is slightly overrated. I would put them around 5 just because of them starting a new QB. Once I see him though, I would move them up in the ranks if he were to perform well. That all being said, Alabama will win the West, which looks so much stronger than the East. Look for Arkansas to give people problems and don’t completely write off Auburn despite how many starters they lost.

To the East. V-O-L-S go VOLS go! Tennessee will win the East. They’re under the radar. There’s no pressure on them. Dooley is one heck of a coach. This is their one chance for many years to come to win the East. It all depends on Tyler Bray’s mentality. Oh, and it’s going to be a ROUGH schedule. They host Georgia, then LSU, go to Alabama, then host South Carolina. Two weeks later they visit Arkansas. But again, they’re under no pressure, and if they take out LSU, which they will be very inspired in that game because of last year. They can afford a loss to either Alabama or South Carolina, but not both, and preferably Alabama. We’ll see. I’m being bold here, okay.

I do think that Alabama will get it done in the SEC title game. There’s just so much talent everywhere, I don’t see how they can slip up twice this year. I do think they will lose once in conference, but I’m not sure where exactly. Maybe Florida, LSU, or Auburn.

On a smaller note, I think Vandy will make a bowl game. Ole Miss and Kentucky will not. Kentucky’s streak vs. Tennessee will continue.

Now that I’ve said all this, excuse me while I

Wow. How many tattoos can he get after that pick?

Pryor

is playing extremely well tonight. Too bad he shouldn’t be out there at all. I still can’t get over how the BCS/NCAA is babying their favorite child so they can stop their loosing streak. It’s just totally not fair to the Arkansas guys who can actually play by the rules. It’s a shame because Ohio State, as much as I hate them, really came to play in this one. If it wasn’t for their players being busted, I would have given them more credit for putting a stop to their SEC slump.

Week 4 thoughts

1. Arkansas came so, so, close. It was extremely unfortunate.

2. Texas didn’t show up to play against an underrated UCLA team. Sure they dropped their first two games, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t competitive.

3.  Boise State looked impressive, but they could have looked better.

4. Wisconsin beat up on my school, so I want MSU to get revenge for me.

5. Will somebody please just beat Ohio State for me?

6. I’m still mad that USC is allowed to be ranked. I don’t see the point.

7. Auburn looked good, but not Top 10 good.

8. Stanford beat a mediocre Notre Dame team and jumps eight spots, including five unbeaten teams? I know they look impressive, but seriously?

9. Nevada is ranked for the first time in years. This makes me happy. I hope they continue to blow people out until their final game vs. BSU.

10. Arizona, NC State, Michigan State, and Utah are all underrated. To those who have them on their schedule, look out.

Top 25 Match-ups for Week 4

#1 Alabama over #10 Arkansas

I really hope this is a close game that reps the SEC well. This might be the only chance Arkansas will have for a long while to capture the SEC West.

#3 Boise State over #24 Oregon State

Oregon State played really well against TCU but struggled against Louisville. Boise’s offense and the Smurf Turf will be just a bit too much for them to handle.

#12 South Carolina over #17 Auburn

South Carolina will be better coached than Auburn I believe.

#15 LSU over #22 West Virginia

Both these teams have been inconsistent, but LSU has home field advantage.
