Wake Up Week

After killing Texas, Oklahoma basically has a bye week against Kansas, but considering their dominance over their rivals wasn’t enough to get the #1 spot, they need to continue making a path of destruction.

And speaking of the Longhorns, they play Oklahoma State. I think they can hang with OK State, which isn’t good news for the Cowboys. Clearly, OK is perceived as the better of the two OK schools, and anything short of a 30 point victory will solidify that. Heck, even if they win by 70 it won’t matter much for the Cowboys. For now, they need to just plan on winning this game, a game that Texas could potentially win depending on how they feel like playing after last week.

LSU has Tennessee this week, which will be interesting. These games are always pretty good. LSU, just know that Dooley hasn’t forgotten how last year ended up. Of course, Bray is out which is a major blow to the spirit in Knoxville, but this is a game LSU needs to prepare for as if it’s Alabama.

South Carolina has officially moved on from Stephan Garcia, and it came at a bad time, if you ask me. They don’t need any distractions right now. Should they slip up to Mississippi State, then Georgia has no excuse not to win the East. The remaining schedule favors Georgia so SC needs to do whatever it takes to at least beat Miss State.

Oregon has been steamrolling since the week following their loss to LSU. But look out! Arizona State is pretty solid and LaMichael James is questionable. It’s time for Thomas to prove he can win when the game is in his hands. We’ll see what happens. Oregon has the better talent and coaching, but you never know.

Ohio State has let two straight games slip from their grasp, and next on their schedule is the undefeated Illinois Fighting Illinai. I think it’s time Ohio State wakes up and plays Ohio State football, compared to Ohio football. I have them upsetting the Illinai, a team that’s been scraping by all season.

and with GA playing South Carolina…not good. I would love for GA to do well, not like VT last year.

We’re about to find out exactly how good Aaron Murray is at QB. If Moore could throw to the bunch of WRs he had, then surely Murray can get it going by season’s end. Sooner rather than later for UGA fans.

SEC East could be decided in Week 2

This week South Carolina and Georgia face off in a showdown that could determine the SEC East, and we’re only in the 2nd week of college football! Georgia is coming off of an emotional loss to Boise State, and South Carolina avoided an upset against East Carolina. As far as momentum is concerned, South Carolina has the edge going in, considering they were able to get the ball rolling toward the end of their game. Georgia played flat against Boise, but I’m betting that Aaron Murray gets himself prepared for this game, making all the little corrections in a way to give the Bulldogs a good chance to win.

My prediction: Georgia gets it done 24-17. I say Georgia’s defense does just enough to contain Marcus Lattimore and the questions at the QB position are enough for me to give the W to a more balanced team in Georgia.

This game will show exactly what kind of quarterback Georgia has in Aaron Murray. Does he have a short memory and the will to put aside the emotional loss, or will he get frustrated easily? It’s go time, Aaron Murray.

Murray looked awful last night

I mean, he made some good throws downfield. But when he needed to make a play, he just couldn’t do it. Both sides were terrible on 3rd down though. I just, well I don’t know. I expected more from him. I think everyone did. Sophomore slump, maybe?

Just Noticed Something

They people that believe Boise will beat Georgia are the same people that have Oregon over LSU. Everyone who has Georgia winning also has LSU winning. SEC bias.

Aaron Murray

went 68% on play-action passes against ranked opponents last year. Who cares, ESPN? (but I can I have your database so I can look those things up myself? k, thanks)

The SEC: 2011

My original selection was LSU, but I don’t know if I can follow through with that. Let me just explain exactly how BAD the SEC looks this year. Even in the stronger west, there’s the inconsistent Arkansas, the overrated Auburn and Mississippi State, and Ole Miss, which I don’t even know what say about. But as bad as they look, the East is in shambles. Georgia might do okay, but lets not forget how they looked against UCF last year. They don’t even have AJ Green so look out. South Carolina might be okay, and maybe Florida, but who knows. This will be the year without an SEC champion.

Moving on from the rant… Alabama is ranked #2, which I think is slightly overrated. I would put them around 5 just because of them starting a new QB. Once I see him though, I would move them up in the ranks if he were to perform well. That all being said, Alabama will win the West, which looks so much stronger than the East. Look for Arkansas to give people problems and don’t completely write off Auburn despite how many starters they lost.

To the East. V-O-L-S go VOLS go! Tennessee will win the East. They’re under the radar. There’s no pressure on them. Dooley is one heck of a coach. This is their one chance for many years to come to win the East. It all depends on Tyler Bray’s mentality. Oh, and it’s going to be a ROUGH schedule. They host Georgia, then LSU, go to Alabama, then host South Carolina. Two weeks later they visit Arkansas. But again, they’re under no pressure, and if they take out LSU, which they will be very inspired in that game because of last year. They can afford a loss to either Alabama or South Carolina, but not both, and preferably Alabama. We’ll see. I’m being bold here, okay.

I do think that Alabama will get it done in the SEC title game. There’s just so much talent everywhere, I don’t see how they can slip up twice this year. I do think they will lose once in conference, but I’m not sure where exactly. Maybe Florida, LSU, or Auburn.

On a smaller note, I think Vandy will make a bowl game. Ole Miss and Kentucky will not. Kentucky’s streak vs. Tennessee will continue.

Now that I’ve said all this, excuse me while I

Georgia’s Schedule

The Georgia Bulldogs play 9 games in the state of Georgia. They play a total of 4 games on the road, only 3 of those are SEC games. Every preseason ranked team on their schedule they play at home (except for Boise, which is at a “neutral location”).

So

The odds of me going to the Boise/Georgia game are increasing. I have the next Monday off from school so I could stay in Atlanta all weekend. I might even go with my brother because the day after the game, the Braves play at home and he’s a huge Braves fan. The only thing left is to find tickets cheaper than $250.
