These super conferences are the beginning of the end for college football. In a few years it will just be a near official minor league for the NFL with teams that have loose ties to the schools who make money as little more than brand names.

I’m going to be positive. I think this is going to be the beginning of something interesting. And if it becomes a minor league, well, then maybe so what? The elite players aren’t there for school (with the major exception of Andrew Luck) anyways but it’ll still be the same coaches, the same rivalries and the same players going into the sport. And it’ll still be more interesting than the NFL. Again, I’m going to be positive.

Unforced Errors: If It Ain't Crooked, Don't Realign It→

unforcederrors:

So what’s all this talk about conference realignment? The Pac-10 is now the Pac-12, the Big Ten gets even bigger, and the SEC’s strong football programs play out their options, usually choosing the one with the most dollar signs.

Realignment always sounded crazy to me. I like the idea of people…

Conference realignment might lead to playoffs, so that would give people to watch it. I’m a little hesitant myself, but at this point there’s not much that can be done to stop the shifts, so just try to stay positive about them. As for college basketball, well it’s just not as big of a market as college football. And so the Big East loses two of its better programs. Who cares? The fact is, it doesn’t really affect anyone’s chances of a tournament run and this move only makes the ACC stronger in at least two sports. I say it was a good move on the ACC’s part for getting ahead of the game.

This is Simply Football,   and these
are my thoughts about college football.
