Let me get this all straight.
The story I learned, when top teams other top teams on the big stage, the games are good and the ratings are better. If West Virginia and Virginia Tech can’t sell the tickets, then who can? The BCS must change in order to survive. Somehow, some way, it will change because ratings AND attendance are wayy down on bowl games, and has been so progressively. BCS Bowl Predictions
Sorry for the lack of posting, despite it being Bowl Season. I’ve been enjoying the holidays and I really haven’t been on the computer much lately. First, I just want to say how awesome it was watching Kellen Moore win his 50th game and. And it was awesome last night watching Baylor and Washington light up the score board. Even though these games are like exhibitions, they’re still fun to watch. Okay, so now for the big game predictions:
I’ve been supporting OK State all season, and I don’t plan on stopping now. This is an intriguing 3 vs. 4 matchup. It’ll be interesting to see how Luck performs as he prepares for the upcoming draft. Having the Heisman snatched from him 2 years in a row, I’ll expect him to play angry.
I have Oregon because of the depth and the speed. I really thought they had what it took to beat Auburn last year, and I thought they had what it took to go back to the NC game this season, but fell short in week 1. I think they’ve adjusted as the season went on. But, we’ve also seen in the past that when teams have time to prepare for them, they don’t do so well (Ohio State, LSU, Auburn, Boise State). This one will be a lot of fun.
I don’t even know if I’ll be watching this game or not to be honest. It’s just a prime example that the BCS needs to be reformed. But pertaining to the matchup itself, I think VT will get it done. In big time BCS games, coaching is extremely important and Beamer has been here before, where Hoke has not.
I think that the few weeks off will give Clemson some time to recharge and focus on this game. To say the least, West Virginia has underperformed despite the talent they have. They’ll be looking to finish up their time in the Big East with a big win, but Clemson has too much to play for, since conference championships and BCS bids aren’t something they achieve every other year. They’ll have to make the most of this rare opportunity.
They should have won the first meeting. I know that LSU has all the momentum in the world going into this game, but I think Alabama is better defensively. I think that Jordan Jefferson has made more and more mistakes as the season has gone on, and unless he plays his absolute best, he’s going to have trouble. The uncertainty at the QB position is enough for me to take Bama in this one. Maybe, just maybe, they can hit a field goal or two. Well UCLA
I know your coach was let go. I know you weren’t the *true* winners of your division. But still. You had a chance to go to a BCS game. But you spent all week crying about being able to go to a bowl game at 6-7, while you were still 6-6. It doesn’t look like you even tried to prepare for this game. You know, if you would have won today you would have gone to a BCS game. I hope you play well in the Holiday Bowl or whatever. As if 6-7 is worth celebrating. I hope any potential UCLA fans don’t get mad at me for this post. Don’t blame me, blame your team though. Do you think they should be celebrating a 6-7 year? My Top 10
Sorry, guys, haven’t done this in a while. But here goes.
Oregon vs. Stanford
I don’t even know. I think Oregon is slightly better than USC, and we saw how much trouble they gave Stanford’s D a few weeks ago. I know that last year’s beat down will weigh on Luck’s mind though. This is almost the same setup as last year, just in reversed roles. If Stanford wins this game, they have a great chance to go to the BCS Championship game. Oregon is dealing with some key injuries, but they have been rolling regardless. It’s going to be based on the performance of Andrew Luck. If Oregon makes him uncomfortable, then they should have this. I’m voting Oregon in a shootout. Wake Up Week
After killing Texas, Oklahoma basically has a bye week against Kansas, but considering their dominance over their rivals wasn’t enough to get the #1 spot, they need to continue making a path of destruction. And speaking of the Longhorns, they play Oklahoma State. I think they can hang with OK State, which isn’t good news for the Cowboys. Clearly, OK is perceived as the better of the two OK schools, and anything short of a 30 point victory will solidify that. Heck, even if they win by 70 it won’t matter much for the Cowboys. For now, they need to just plan on winning this game, a game that Texas could potentially win depending on how they feel like playing after last week. LSU has Tennessee this week, which will be interesting. These games are always pretty good. LSU, just know that Dooley hasn’t forgotten how last year ended up. Of course, Bray is out which is a major blow to the spirit in Knoxville, but this is a game LSU needs to prepare for as if it’s Alabama. South Carolina has officially moved on from Stephan Garcia, and it came at a bad time, if you ask me. They don’t need any distractions right now. Should they slip up to Mississippi State, then Georgia has no excuse not to win the East. The remaining schedule favors Georgia so SC needs to do whatever it takes to at least beat Miss State. Oregon has been steamrolling since the week following their loss to LSU. But look out! Arizona State is pretty solid and LaMichael James is questionable. It’s time for Thomas to prove he can win when the game is in his hands. We’ll see what happens. Oregon has the better talent and coaching, but you never know. Ohio State has let two straight games slip from their grasp, and next on their schedule is the undefeated Illinois Fighting Illinai. I think it’s time Ohio State wakes up and plays Ohio State football, compared to Ohio football. I have them upsetting the Illinai, a team that’s been scraping by all season. James injures arm
LaMichael James, despite having his third straight 200 yard rushing game, had a rough night as he left the game early with an arm injury. He was seen in a sling after the game. According to James, it’s not a season-ending injury and x-rays reveal that the arm isn’t broken. He is questionable for next week’s game vs. Arizona State. Oh, and might I point out how awesome Oregon’s uni’s are? I mean all of them. Oregon on upset alert
I wasn’t surprised when I saw how rainy it was. Cal has an excellent run defense, and Thomas is still trying to find himself as a consistent passer. I think Oregon’s physical play will be enough to win this one, but I’m not surprised that they are struggling so far. |
