Potential Boise/Arkansas game next season?
Word on the street is that Arkansas only has 11 confirmed regular season games scheduled for next season. Boise is playing AT Hawaii, and any team that plays AT Hawaii can opt for a 13th regular season game (Which is how they went 14-0 a few seasons back without a conference championship game). Word on the street also says that Jerry Jones would love to host the match up in his big backyard. I’m not sure about the reality of it, but I would like to see it come into reality. Though I’m not going to lie, it will probably be a rough game for the rebuilding Broncos to play an Arkansas team poised to win the SEC West. Untitled - At Least For Now: Who Will Be in the National Championship???→
Apparently the BCS likes to think that Ok’s fluke loss is less important than Arkansas losing to a quality opponent. If Arkansas beats LSU, Bama will go to the SEC championship game. I’m sorry, but Arkansas is getting screwed this year, one way or another. It reminds me of Michigan State last year. According to SEC rules, if there is a three-way tie, it takes the highest ranked team, which will be Bama if Arkansas wins over LSU. Even if Arkansas does beat LSU, I don’t even know if Arkansas will go to a BCS game. Only 2 teams per conference are allowed. LSU might still go instead of them. It’s a mixed up system. SEC West
Just to show the SEC West’s dominance, I looked at their record vs. the East this year. Western schools have a combined record of 12-6 over the East. To put that in perspective, the “Legends” division has a record of 8-6 against the “Leaders.” I’m not bashing the Big 10 at all, I’m just saying that the gap between the divisions is that much greater in the SEC. I bring this up because the SEC has an opportunity to even the gap with two schools being added to the conference. It makes the most sense to move Auburn and Alabama over to the East, but apparently, they have decided to put Missouri on one side and Texas A&M in the other. I’m not so sure that helps close the gap. South Carolina?
I still say they’re overrated this year. They haven’t played a AP ranked team all season. Auburn is as close to a ranked team that they’ve played (AU is ranked now) and they lost. I won’t be surprised if/when Arkansas beats them down. Not only is West Virginia in the Big 12 now…
but the conference met today and Mizzou was not present, meaning Mizzou is not in the plans as the conference moves forward. For both teams will be new conferences with the same level of mediocracy…
Very well done, sir. Death to the Big East?
Here’s my report on the Big East, Big 12, ACC, and the Mountain West. Feel free to ask me questions about it. Must-Win for Vandy
Today Vandy faces Army, which I think is a must-win for them if they want to go to a bowl game. If they are able to win all their non-conference games, it means they only need two conference wins to become bowl eligible. They already beat Ole Miss, so it would be much easier for them to only have to win either against Kentucky or Tennessee, but not both. On the other hand, their last game of the season is against Wake Forest, and they’re looking pretty good so far. I guess we will wait and see. Hey LSU
You can no longer call that win over West Virginia a “quality win.” The BCS will agree. And Hey West Virginia, losing to Syracuse isn’t going to help you make it to the SEC. It might help you get to the ACC though. |
